I’ve been itching to make my own stereo speakers in a retro-futuristic style. Here they are.

The cabinets are 1/2 inch MDF overlaid with walnut veneer and finished with Early American stain. The grille frames are red oak. The attenuator plate and knobs are real brass.

Below is an image that shows how the system works. The bullet tweeters and dome midranges are controlled by the power amplifier in the middle. The mid-bass elements are controlled by the power amplifier on the right. The woofer is controlled by a dedicated sub amp with active cross-over controls. All the amps are controlled by the tube preamp with the orange knob.

Why have retro speakers without a retro ad?

This is what I imagined might appear in a 70s Hi-Fi magazine ad.

The speakers are the original concept renders done in Blender. The rest was done in Photoshop.
